Adi Liberman - Los Angeles, CA
Adi LibermanAdi Liberman is the Principal and Founder of ALA. Prior to starting his own firm in 2006, Mr. Liberman was Executive Vice President and led the Public Affairs & Issues Management practice at the Edelman Public Relations Worldwide Los Angeles office. Mr. Liberman has more than two decades of experience providing high-level strategic counsel on environmental issues to corporations, non-profit organizations and government agencies. He has worked for the U.S. Department of Energy, the California State Legislature, the Los Angeles City Council, private sector corporations and non-governmental advocacy organizations. He has directed successful programs for corporate recycling in Los Angeles County and water conservation and recycling in the City of Los Angeles.
Prior to joining the City of Los Angeles in 1995, Mr. Liberman served as Executive Director for Heal the Bay, one the nation’s most effective and well-respected environmental advocacy organizations, compelling the region’s sewage plants to comply with environmental laws and creating public support for $4 billion in infrastructure improvements.
Mr. Liberman serves on the California Coastal Commission and is Vice-Chair of the City of Los Angeles’ Prop. O Oversight Advisory Council, which determines how $500 million will be spent to address water pollution issues. He has served as a Board member of the Ballona Wetlands Foundation, co-founder of the Coalition on the Environment and Jewish Life, and as a Board member of the Los Angeles League of Conservation Voters.
Michelle Vega - Los Angeles, CA
Michelle VegaMichelle Vega is a seasoned public affairs professional with more than ten years of experience working with a variety of companies, government agencies, elected officials, academic institutions and non-profit organizations. Michelle’s strengths include key stakeholder engagement, community coalition building, media outreach, and message development. She has also worked with third parties to advance advocacy efforts and provide added credibility on behalf of various clients.
- Michelle most recently served as Vice President for Edelman where she was the Southern California Public Affairs Practice Lead and provided strategic counsel and multi-channel communications expertise to corporations, trade associations and government agencies. In this capacity, Michelle:
- Managed all stakeholder engagement and communications efforts around a proposed Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS) project in California, helping to educate key regulators, elected officials, environmental activists and the local community about CCS technology and its importance in greenhouse gas emission reductions.
- Led outreach efforts on behalf of Shell Oil on various climate change programs, including the award-winning Shell Eco-marathon, a sustainable mobility initiative; as well as the company’s efforts to promote new bio-fuel technologies.
- Directed the municipal outreach campaign on behalf of the California Energy Commission to achieve broad-based local government support of Gov. Schwarzenegger’s “Million Solar Roofs” initiative.
- Oversaw the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works “Smart-Business” Recycling Program to encourage local businesses to reduce waste.
- Developed and led an influencer engagement campaign on behalf of Nestle to address multiple state legislative efforts to ban products linked to childhood obesity.
- Spearheaded an outreach strategy for a California-based pharmaceutical company to enhance its reputation and increase visibility within the California governor’s office and state legislature.
Prior to joining Edelman, Michelle served as a Regional Director in External Affairs at UCLA, where she developed and implemented strategic advocacy efforts to support the overall goals and objectives of the university. This included successful relationships with local elected officials and their staff, faculty, board members, donors, and alumni for advocacy efforts. Michelle represented the university through presentations, speeches and written correspondence, and developed communications strategies to help achieve fundraising objectives of the university.
Previously, Michelle worked at Cerrell Associates, where she acted as staff liaison on behalf of government agencies and elected officials for media efforts. Her clients included the Southern California Association of Governments, City of Los Angeles Redevelopment Agency, Pepperdine University and BreitBurn Energy. Michelle began her career working on local, state and federal political campaigns, including media outreach, community engagement, coalition support, and event planning and execution. Michelle graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts degree in history, and studied at the Center for American Politics and Public Policy in Washington, DC.
Jami Warner – Sacramento, CA
Jami Warner is Senior Counsel to Adi Liberman & Associates. Ms. Warner affiliated with ALA after 10 years as Executive Vice President and General Manager of the Sacramento office of Edelman, the world’s largest independent public relations firm. She has 20-plus years of branding, social media and social marketing, media relations, local and statewide public affairs and government relations experience in both the public and the private sectors. Before joining Edelman, she served as Senior Vice President for Deen& Black Public Relations (now Ogilvy Public Relations), and Director of Client Service for California public affairs firm Stoorza, Ziegaus& Metzger. Previous experience also includes Director of Governmental Affairs for the California State University system, and Manager of California Government Relations for Unocal Corporation.
Prior to her career in private sector public relations Ms. Warner served as a senior staff member for three California elected officials, holding senior-level policy positions with the City of Los Angeles, the California State Legislature and the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.
Ms. Warner has been instrumental in developing and implementing creative and effective media relations, issues and crisis management, public affairs, internal and external communications, legislative advocacy programs for local, statewide and regional associations, professional services firms, state and local government agencies and Fortune 500 corporations, both in California and nationally. Warner’s varied clientele has included Chevron, the California State Bureau of Automotive Repair, the California State Department of Consumer Affairs, Nissan, Starbucks, Kaiser Permanente, Microsoft, Pearson Education and the California Taxpayers Association.
Ms. Warner was nominated by California’s former First Lady Maria Shriver to serve as a Trustee of the California Museum in 2005.
Ms. Warner received a Bachelors Degree in Journalism from California State University, Northridge. Before entering the public relations field, Warner worked as a political reporter for the Los Angeles Daily News and was a member of the KNBC-TV news staff in Los Angeles.
Christine Pierson – Sacramento, CA
Christine Pierson specializes in providing her clients with strategic solutions that move key audiences to take action and deliver desired results. With more than twelve years of experience, Christine is adept at creating programs that are grounded in research, tailored to reach key audiences, achieve business goals, and integrate cohesively within her client’s overall marketing plans.
Most recently, Christine served as a vice president at Edelman for four years leading diverse teams comprised of individuals from the firm’s network as well as subcontractors at research, advertising, and Web design agencies. She has directed and implemented statewide and national PR programs for a range of public education, stakeholder engagement, consumer and social marketing accounts. Christine worked with Shell to implement a Carbon Capture and Sequestration (CCS) project in Northern California, helping to educate key regulators, elected officials, environmental activists and the local community about CCS technology and its importance in CO2 mitigation. Christine also spear-headed the multi-office team working with the California Energy Commission’s New Solar Homes Partnership to promote the construction and purchase of new energy efficient solar homes, mandated under SB1 and the California Solar Initiative. She has also led accounts focused on creating sustainable energy practices for clients such as BP and Green Homes Solutions by Grupe. Outside the energy sector, Christine helped lead the California Methamphetamine Initiative for the state’s Alcohol and Drug Programs, a social marketing and stakeholder engagement campaign targeted at decreasing methamphetamine use. Christine’s clients have included Allstate, the American Chemistry Council, the American Petroleum Institute, BP, the California Travel & Tourism Commission, eBay, Paramount Equity, Shell, VSP and Westfield.
Christine has also worked in the consumer marketing practice of Edelman’s San Francisco office where she focused on tourism and technology accounts, including Microsoft’s Internet properties. Prior to joining Edelman, Christine worked at a variety of public relations agencies where she honed her skills.
A Bay Area native, Christine is a graduate of Mills College in Oakland where she received a B.A. in Communications. She currently serves on the Board of Directors as membership chair for the Public Relations Society of America California Capital Chapter.
Daniel Freedman - Los Angeles, CA
Daniel F. Freedman is a Senior Associate with Adi Liberman & Associates (ALA) in Los Angeles, California. Mr. Freedman, who has extensive technical knowledge of regulatory and political issues relating to environmental infrastructure projects and regional planning, provides clients with public affairs and communications consulting services.
Mr. Freedman has worked with a host of organizations and companies from which he has gained a broad and sophisticated understanding of environmental policy, sustainability and government affairs. Previous to his work with ALA, Mr. Freedman worked with organizations such as the D.C. based Environmental and Energy Study Institute, Heal the Bay, the Environmental and Community Development division at the City of Malibu, Edelman Public Relations and the World Business Council on Sustainable Development. He gained further experience working on environmental legal issues as an extern in the Natural Resources Division at the California Department of Justice.
Mr. Freedman received his J.D., from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles, where he received the Dean’s Service Award and was a selected as a Hagman Scholar for Excellence in Land Use Law. Mr. Freedman received his B.S. degree in Conservation Resource Science from the University of California Berkeley, with a minor in City & Regional Planning. Mr. Freedman also received his M.A. in Urban Planning at the University of California Los Angeles. He is admitted to practice law in California.
Mr. Freedman is also a founding Board Member, and current Chair of the Los Angeles Sustainability Collaborative, a non-profit organization dedicated to facilitating research and informing stakeholders on emerging environmental sustainability issues affecting Southern California.
Wendy Bruget - Los Angeles, CA
Wendy Bruget is an associate with Adi Liberman & Associates, and provides clients with government and environmental affairs consulting services. Ms. Bruget further specializes in partnership development, multi-cultural community outreach, and campaign managment.
A native of Santa Barbara California, Wendy Bruget is a graduate of University California at Santa Barbara, where she earned a bachelor's degree in Political Science in 1998. She served as a Commissioner of The City of Santa Barbara's Waterfront Visioning Taskforce and served two terms as an elected member of the Los Angeles City Downtown Neighborhood Council.
Ms. Bruget's other experience includes serving as a union Organizer for the Association of Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs (ALADS). Her work as a Board Member of Hispanas Organized for Political Equality (HOPE) PAC shows her dedication to electing Latina Candidates in California. She also serves on the American Diabetes Association Los Angeles Political roast and golf fundraising committee, which is the highest grossing fundraising event for the ADA.
